Gaelic Inns Pte Ltd is a Singapore based company formed in 1994 with a specific business objective of creating Asia’s finest pub group. The company opened its first outlet, Muddy Murphy’s Irish Pub, under the highly successful Guinness Irish Pub Project in April 1996 in the Orchard Hotel Shopping Arcade, and the outlet was an instant hit with both locals and expatriates and is now firmly established as one of Singapore’s pub industry icons.
This success was followed closely by the launch of The Penny Black Victorian London Pub in early 1999 on the banks of the Singapore River right at the centre of Singapore’s financial district at the head of Boat Quay. The Penny Black has since established a strong name for itself on the pub scene in Singapore. The Company has not looked back since, with Ballymoons Spirits Bar opening above Muddy Murphy’s in 2003, Scruffy Murphy’s Irish Café-Pub by the beach in the East Coast Park in 2005, and the most recent addition, Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub in Marina Square (within the Formula 1 race circuit park) overlooking Raffles Boulevard in mid 2007.
The success and strong investment returns enjoyed by the company's outlets can largely be accredited to the concept and design philosophy of Gaelic Inns. The Company has placed great emphasis on developing truly authentic outlets and spared no expense in fitting out each individual pub’s design concept.. To achieve this, Muddy Murphy's, The Penny Black, and Durty Nelly’s were all designed and fabricated to scale in Ireland and UK, prior to being shipped lock, stock and barrel to their current locations in Singapore where they were painstakingly re-assembled by specialist foreign pub fitters.
"We are not only in the business of operating great food & beverage outlets," stresses Group Operations Manager, Billy McDonald . "Our aim with each pub is to create an environment in which people will feel an immediate familiarity and very much at home."
